DO SILHOUETTE SOFT THREADS REALLY WORK?

DO SILHOUETTE SOFT THREADS REALLY WORK?

Silhouette Soft Thread lift is a non-surgical procedure that uses sutures or ‘threads’ to tighten lax skin by lifting it as well as boosting collagen.  Whilst this treatment has been available for some time now the reviews are confusing with some doctors saying that the treatment doesn’t really work, so I wanted to try it out for myself to see if I could get some answers.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, like all of these procedures you really have to make sure you go to a reputable practitioner as cosmetic procedures, whilst this is only minimally invasive, they can go terrible wrong if not in the right hands.  After lots of researching I went to the lovely and extremely talented Dr Angelica Kavouni who is a certified cosmetic surgeon and who’s clinic is based at Wimpole Street in London.

So what exactly is Silhouette Soft?  It’s basically a minimally invasive face lifting procedure using threads which are made from PLLA (poly-l-lactic acid) which have been proven to help stimulate collagen production by tightening the skin along the thread line.   They first came onto the ‘scene’ in the 90s but these weren’t absorbable (so they were permanent) and had to be anchored into the temples.   Scary!  The ones they use today are absorbable and are now FDA approved.

Face before treatment

I’m not going to lie I was pretty nervous after seeing imagines of women online who’s threads had gone wrong, but Dr Kavouni was very patient with me, and we talked about what my concerns were and how the threads can help this – what was decided was that I would have two threads along my jaw line to help lift my jowls.  You can also have them across the cheeks and from the brow to hairline which can give that cat eye look.

I was them numbed with a local anaesthetic in the entry and exit points and then I just sat back and tried to relax.  Now, I have to say the idea of the threads going in was much worse than it actually was as I didn’t really feel a thing other than a tiny bit of tugging.   After the threads are inserted Angelica then sat me up and pulled the threads up to give a slight lifting affect.   The whole procedure took maybe 30 minutes.   For the next two weeks I had to sleep on my back, be careful washing my face and try not to smile or laugh too wide.   All bearable if it meant banishing jowls for the next 12-18 months!

Straight after Silouette Soft

So what were the next 48 hours like?   I did feel bruised and a little swollen in the entry points but the pain was bearable and by day 3 I was able to leave the house without anyone noticing.   I have to say that I was surprised at how little the downtime was for this but that’s not to say everyone will be like this, as of course, we are all heal differently.   After about one week and all the bruising and swelling had gone down I did notice a slight lift in the jowl area but the real results are seen about three months after the treatment.

3 days after the lift and some slight bruising and a small indent. I did have some mineral make-up on to hide some of the bruising

Its now three months on since I had the treatment and if I’m honest I’d forgotten about it until one day I looked at a picture of myself and noticed that I looked a lot tighter and more defined along the jaw line.   For about a month after the treatment I could feel a slight bump in one entry point but this has now fully gone.  Overall I would highly recommended Silhouette Soft Lift and especially with Dr Kavouni not only because she is highly skilled at what she does and really listens to what you want but also because she is a surgeon so really understands the anatomy of the face.  So to answer my question ‘Does Silhouette Soft Lift really work?’ yes it does!

3 months after the treatment and I’ve got the jaw of dreams thanks to Dr Angelica Kavouni
