CBD hits our skincare but does it really work?

One of the most talked about products over the last year in the health and wellness world is CBD oil and with its long list of supposed health benefits its no wonder, from cancer curing, fighting off depression and anxiety to easing chronic pain and all without the mind-altering effect you’d get if you smoked a joint.  

So it was only a matter of time before it was about to hit our skincare and one of the first clinics to offer this in a facial is the Harley Street Skin Clinic which they’ve named it The CBD Magic Lift Facial.   Using the brand Mari Pharm, which is one of the best on the market as it has the purest CBD, this facial is a real treat, especially as most of the facials I have are with machines and usually aren’t that relaxing. 

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil and is proving to be a useful tool at helping to reduce acne and stressed skin when applied topically, which is all due to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities.   Always a head of the curve, Harley street skin have been recommending the CBD sublingual drops to their patents for a while as part of their overall wellness so they wanted to try it as part of a skincare regime and they’ve seen some good results which is why they developed the first facial using a CBD oil.  

Firstly they start the facial with 3 drops of the Mari Pharm oil under the tongue as this acts on the brains serotonin receptors to relax and calm which you hold there for 30 seconds before you swallow it and then its all about trying to get you to relax for 45 minutes.  Which wasn’t hard as the skin was double-cleansed to thoroughly remove all debris and accumulated dirt followed by a relaxing, deep tissue massage using more CBD oil, concentrating on key pressure points, to help detox stressed skin and to restore a natural glow.  Finally a light film of CBD cream is applied to seal and protect the skin.

I certainly left with a natural high and my skin glowed.
